Rain Lashes Jersey City as State of Emergency Declared

A state of emergency was declared for New Jersey by Gov Phil Murphy on September 1, as the remnants of Hurricane Ida lashed the state, and surrounding areas.

“The safety of our residents is our main priority, and we urge everyone to be informed of local weather conditions and to stay off the roads,” Murphy said.

This video shows the heavy rain in Jersey City on the night, as flooding was widespread across the state.

One death was reported in New Jersey, with Passaic Mayor Hector Lora telling local news a 70-year-old man was killed when his car was swept away.
