Organisers of the Erdinger London Oktoberfest are launching a one-day LGBT+ takeover featuring drag queens in dirndls and rave karaoke.

Pink Oktoberfest will take place on October 15 as part of the traditional Bavarian celebration, which is launching next month at the O2 Arena.

As well as the usual beer and German food, Pink Oktoberfest will also feature drag queens in traditional dress competing in lip sync battles, game shows and live gigs from LGBT+ artists and DJs.

The London launch follows the success of similar takeovers in Munich and Dublin. Rebecca Paisis, founder of Pink Oktoberfest, said: “The Pink Oktoberfest will be a premium event which will look and feel just like the original but with an LGBT+ twist.

“Oktoberfest events have grown in popularity in the UK and we’re excited to be taking over London’s largest and most authentic Oktoberfest event for the LGBT+ community and its allies. The organisers of the main Oktoberfest event in Bavaria, Germany have been truly amazing in accommodating us and I can’t wait to see how we can bring our LGBT+ difference to this event.”
