The Los Angeles Lakers backup point guard hasn’t played in the bubble after fracturing his right thumb during an early practice at the NBA’s Disney World campus. He left the bubble for surgery and rehab and has since returned and cleared quarantine.
Head coach Frank Vogel told reporters Friday afternoon that Rondo is ready to play and will come off the bench against Rockets.
Rondo’s role vs. Rockets
In 48 games this season, Rondo averaged 7.1 points, five assists and three rebounds, primarily off the bench. He provides a valuable role as a secondary ball handler and perimeter defender in the absence of Avery Bradley, who opted out of bubble play.
