Nice hit sorry St Etienne for EIGHT on Friday night - and the entire away end emptied at half-time with the home side already six goals to the good.

We've all been to those games where everything just goes wrong but a near 1,000+ mile round trip just to watch your team throw away goal after goal would test the patience of any punter. That's what St Etienne fans went through on the south-east coast of France last night, an own-goal from Dylan Batubinsika setting the tone before a collapse of historic proportions.

Former Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele and Dortmund loan starlet Yousouffa Moukoko were among the goals for on-fire Nice, who kick off their Europa League campaign against Real Sociedad on Wednesday and welcome Rangers to the French Riviera in November.

The small, hardy band of punters from St Etienne, located a five-hour drive north, made some noise in the first half and even had a colourful pre-match display. But as the goals rained in, they gradually made their way to the exits. And by the time Moukoko fired in Nice's sixth goal - on just 39 minutes - the remaining fans in the away corner had seen enough.

In a striking visual, the ENTIRE away end was empty for the final five minutes of the first half onwards. As it happened, they were right to walk out as it got even worse from there, Sofiane Diop and a penalty from Pablo Rosario further adding to Nice's joint-biggest ever win.
