Airdrie have signed goalkeeper Kieran Wright on a season-long loan from Rangers.

The 25-year-old comes to the club having also been on loan previously at Dumbarton, Partick Thistle and Albion Rovers.

Wright, who has been at Rangers since 2016, will compete for the number one spot with Hibs loanee Murray Johnson.

He is the 13th summer signing at Airdrie, following Johnson, strikers Ben Wilson, Aaron Reid and Cammy Cooper; midfielders Lewis McGrattan, Rhys Armstrong and Murray Aiken, and defenders Aidan Wilson, Cammy Rowley, Cammy Bruce, Terrell Agyemang and Dylan MacDonald.

The towering keeper, who was born in Stepps, has been capped for Scotland at under-17, 19 and 21 level.

Airdrie goalkeeper coach David Hutton told the club’s website: “I’ve worked with Kieran before. He’s a hungry young goalkeeper who was very keen to join the club when he heard of our interest.

“He’s good with his feet, and a great shot-stopper. You don’t spend that long at Rangers if you haven’t got a bit about you!

“I’m really looking forward to working with him - and I’m delighted that I’ve got two top goalies competing for the jersey.”
