A teenage drug dealer who tried to buy a gun from the USA was shocked when he discovered the parcel that was delivered had been intercepted by law enforcement agencies.

Zaid Manjra had large amounts of cannabis and ketamine at a flat in Preston and ordered the gun to help his drug dealing business.

This week also saw more people locked up for their roles in the riots which swept the country in August - as well as paedophiles, thieves and thugs.

Each week, dozens of defendants find themselves in the docks of Lancashire's courts and LancsLive reporters are on hand to cover the most serious cases. Here we take a look at the cases to have been in court this week.

Encrochat dealer 'JerryCoke' peddled weapons and class A drugs from his Lancashire barge

Two men who peddled weapons and drugs on the Encrochat network have been jailed.

Mark Nolan, 55, and Darren Herlihy, 38, operated on the encrypted communications platform before it was taken down in 2020. Nolan, who used the handles ‘RobustBronze’ and ‘MasterCastle’ was sentenced to 20 years at Liverpool Crown Court. Herlihy, who used the handle ‘JerryCoke’ was jailed for 12 years.

Drug enforcers ruined mum's social media career over debt that wasn't even hers

A mum's social media career has been left in tatters after thugs beat her up on her doorstep - over a drug debt that wasn't even hers.

One man has been jailed for his role in the attack and another was sentenced at Preston Crown Court. The other two men have never been traced.

The woman, who is a social media influencer, has been left with a facial injury which has affected her ability to earn. Daniel Turner, 35, was sentenced to 46 months for his role in the incident while Connor Robinson was handed a 13 month suspended sentence.

Rapist attacked vulnerable passenger on top deck of X43 bus to Manchester

A rapist who targeted a vulnerable young woman on a bus has been jailed for ten years. Rahmat Qalander targeted the woman on the top deck of the X43 bus from Burnley to Manchester on February 1 this year.

Preston Crown Court heard Qalander, 23, sat next to his victim upstairs before forcing her to go to the back of the bus with him where he raped her. He then got off the bus in Manchester and the victim, in her 20s and with a number of vulnerabilities, reported what had happened to the driver.

The police were called and following enquiries, Qalander was identified and arrested. He was charged with the rape, and a second sexual assault on a 16-year-old girl, which took place on a bus in Nelson on February 6th.

'Where's the f***ing wap?' Drug dealer who called himself 'Mr Narcotics' caught trying to ship a revolver and live ammo into Preston by post

A teenage drug dealer who called himself 'Mr Narcotics' ordered a revolver and 50 rounds of ammunition to be shipped from the USA to Preston.

Zaid Manjra, now 20, paid $1,100 for the gun and hollow point bullets and made enquiries about buying an assault rifle from a dealer in the USA, Preston Crown Court heard.

In February 2023, a US Homeland Special Agent intercepted a parcel destined for an address in Gloucester, England. He discovered a 0.375 Smith and Wesson revolver and 50 rounds of hollow point ammunition, compatible with the gun - which had been ordered by Manjra.

Remorseless rapist finally faces justice for his sickening crimes

A remorseless rapist has finally faced justice for his sickening crimes after being found guilty by a jury.

Kevin Clarry been sentenced to 14 years for rape. The 41-year-old found guilty of three counts of rape at a trial that concluded on Monday (October 7).

The offences relate to incidents against one woman. Clarry, of Charles Street, Carlisle, was also give an indefinite restraining order during the sentencing hearing at Carlisle Crown Court.

Man, 49, found with Sat Navs and sunglasses jailed after spate of thefts from cars

A thief who targeted cars in Lancashire village has been jailed for 18 months.

Bernard Rawstron was stopped by officers on patrol in Buckshaw Village, Chorley, in the early hours of Saturday morning (October 5) after he was seen 'acting suspiciously'. The 49-year-old was searched and he was found in possession of items including a Sat Nav and a pair of designer sunglasses.

Dad 'with so much to lose' threw it all away in one 'horrific act'

A father who had everything to lose committed a "horrific act" that cost him dearly.

Nicholas Mooney, from Downholland in West Lancashire, was caught on camera as he jumped on top of a police van and tore off its windscreen wiper amid the chaos that unfolded in Southport after the fatal stabbings of three young schoolgirls. Rebecca Smith, prosecuting, told the court how the 29-year-old was seen on CCTV footage climbing onto the bonnet of a police carrier before kicking at the front window.

Grandad whips off top and hurls bin bag in 'night of shame' caught on TikTok

A grandad was caught on a TikTok video whipping off his T-shirt and throwing a bin bag during a night of violence.

Kevin Underwood found himself in the midst of violent scenes that broke out in Southport following the tragic stabbings of three young children, Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe and Alice Da Silva Aguiar. Prosecutor Rebecca Smith detailed how the 61-year-old was captured on CCTV and a TikTok video pushing a police officer and "getting into their personal space".

Thug went to support his brother in court but ended up in the dock himself

A thug who attended court to support his brother ended up being sentenced himself.

Jake Joseph was in the public gallery watching his younger sibling be jailed for his involvement in the violent events in Southport following the fatal stabbings of three schoolgirls. However, a sharp-eyed police officer in the courtroom recognised him from the riot.

Dozy crook interrupted police search and ended up in the cells himself

A man who interrupted a police search at a Cumbria pub ended up in the cells himself.

Police visited the Kings Arms in Ulverston to speak to someone else they suspencted was in possession of drugs on August 28, 2023. Robert Robertson, 37, saw what was happening and began to interrupt the search.

Due to Robertson's behaviour, PC Murdoch, of Cumbria Police, felt it was appropriate to search him too. However Robertson resisted the search and was taken into custody.
