Rare vintage Ferrari Spider could sell for $18 Million
A remarkable vintage Ferrari is heading to auction in August with a price tag to match - an estimate of $16 million to $18 million.
The very first Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider ever produced, which debuted at the 1960 Geneva Motor Show leads a trio of stellar Ferraris that are the highlights of RM Sotheby's Monterey sale on 16 and 17 August.
This particular model, equipped with a competition-spec engine and a factory hardtop, is celebrated as one of the most coveted California Spiders in existence.
Joining this exceptional vehicle are two more remarkable Ferraris: a 1960 Ferrari 400 Superamerica SWB Cabriolet and a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider. Both models epitomise the luxury and performance for which Ferrari's Superamerica line is renowned. The 400 Superamerica, with its 4.0-liter engine, combines superior horsepower and torque, making it a favorite among discerning collectors and enthusiasts.
The first 250 GT SWB California Spider stands out not only for its historical significance but also for its impressive specifications. Presented in its original delivery colors, the car is Ferrari Classiche Red Book certified, retaining its original engine, gearbox, rear axle, and bodywork.
With only five owners from new and three long-term owners over the past 60 years, it is offered for sale from a highly regarded private collection for the first time in 16 years.
Ferrari's Superamerica models from the late 1950s and early 1960s are celebrated for their excellence in both luxury and performance, often attracting affluent buyers including heads of state and industry titans.
