Liverpool have been linked with a number of central defenders ahead of the summer transfer window but Lille star Leny Yoro has been a constant name said to be on their radar.

Joel Matip's exit means new manager Arne Slot is likely to add to his options in defence. Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Jarrel Quansah are all recognised centre-backs at the club with Joe Gomez capable of filling in.

Yoro is one player linked with a move to Anfield this summer with Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claiming the Reds are "forcefully" pushing to sign the 18-year-old. He made 44 appearances for Lille this season and helped them qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Unfortunately for Liverpool and Slot, Yoro is in demand with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain also reportedly monitoring his progress. According to Foot Mercato, the Reds will have to act fast or face losing out on the highly-rated defender.

The report states that Real Madrid have offered a low-ball bid for Yoro worth around £26m plus bonuses. However, it's claimed that they have urged the teenager to stay 'calm' and wait for a deal to be agreed.

Reports previously have indicated that Lille have put a £85m price tag on the France U21 international. In the past, the club have managed to sell players for high fees with Nicolas Pepe, Victor Osimhen and Rafael Leao all leaving them in the last five years.

Liverpool are yet to make an official approach for the defender with Slot only recently arriving. Having previously lost out to Jude Bellingham and Aurelian Tchouameni to Madrid, the Reds will be eager to beat the Spanish giants to Yoro's signature this summer.
