Former Real Housewife of Cheshire Leanne and wife of ex-Manchester United defender Wes Brown has shared the difficult side of being a WAG.

The infamous term, which stands for ‘wives and girlfriends’ of typically football stars, may look glamorous, but Brown has warned that it can be challenging.

So much so, that the 42-year-old mother of three has revealed that she’s a member of a support groups for other WAGs.

She is a member of the support group ‘The LifeStyled Club’ which aims to connect the spouses of successful sports player around the world.

“The LifeStyled Club wants to bring awareness to the women who support these players and make us aware that we’re not alone out there,” Brown told the Manchester Evening News.

The club’s Instagram page, which is open to the public, describes itself as ‘The trusted, exclusive community for the partners of pro footballers.’

Brown has published several motivational quotes on the page, as well as tagged in photos with other members.

The former reality star went on to lament to the same publication:

“Yes we’ve got a lovely life and all this money and I’m not saying the money isn’t great, but when you’re in it you’re living in this bubble.

“Although the fans can be amazing they can also be very cruel. It must be hard [for footballers] to deal with to be on top one minute and hated the next for a bad kick or missing the goal.

“We are the ones that are left to pick up the pieces and bear the brunt of whatever is left at the end of their careers,” Brown said.

She added that WAGs often find themselves alone at home with the kids as their significant others would be away at matches: “Sometimes it’s hard being alone a lot. The lads are away a lot, especially if involved in a high profile club and England international too.”

Leanne met Wes when she was 21 and he was 18 while working as a lapdancer in a Manchester club.

She was a regular on ITVBe’s Real Housewives of Cheshire from 2015-2017 but left after allegedly falling out with fellow Housewife Dawn Ward.

Leanne and Wes had reportedly lent Dawn and her husband former Manchester City player Ashley Ward a loan that they had failed to repay.

The ninth series of Real Housewives of Cheshire is expected to air this spring on ITVBe.
