The reason Middlesbrough's Carabao Cup second round clash with Stoke City kicks off at 7.15pm
Middlesbrough have come to an agreement with Stoke City to play their Carabao Cup clash at 7.15pm in the hope of attracting more younger supporters to the game.
Boro beat Leeds United last week to secure their spot in the second round of the competition and will now host the Potters at the Riverside on Tuesday, August 27. And with the game not picked up broadcaster Sky Sports as one of its main selections, Boro were free to agree their own kick-off time with Stoke.
While the majority of games will kick-off at the usual time of 7.45 pm, Boro came to an agreement with Stoke City to play the game 30 minutes earlier than standard in the hope that it might attract more families to the game during the final week of the school holidays.

They've priced tickets with that in mind too. Season card holders can get adult tickets for £15, while under-18s are £5 and Over-65s are £10. Non-Season card holders ticket prices are £18 (adults), £12 (Over 65s) and £6 (U18s). Season card holders have a 5 pm deadline on Friday to secure their usual seat.
It comes after the club hosted an open training session at the Riverside on Monday too - offering young supporters a chance to watch Michael Carrick's side train and then have pictures and get autographs with their favourite players. Around 8,000 were in attendance, with the players and staff giving plenty of time to interact with young fans after the session.
Tickets for season card holders will go on sale on Tuesday at 10 am, with fans with 10+ loyalty points able to purchase tickets 24 hours later. They then go on general sale at 10 am on Wednesday. Boro will be hoping for another deep run in the competition after reaching the semi-final last time around.
