Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed they are calling time on their 14-year marriage, leaving fans stunned by the announcement of their divorce.

The pair, who captured the nation's heart with their on-screen chemistry while co-hosting ITV's This Morning, were known for their playful on-screen tiffs and sharp wit during their tenure, reports the Mirror.

Despite the occasional on-air tension, they insisted it was all in good fun and a sign of their deep affection for one another. However, viewers were taken aback when the duo were abruptly dropped from This Morning, prompting Eamonn to switch over to GB News.

Since switching job roles, he hasn't shied away from making pointed comments about his former employers. Ruth has remained with ITV, continuing her role on Loose Women.

Sharing the news of their split in a social media post shared on Saturday, the couple jointly stated: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

The insider revealed to The Sun: "They are determined to stay friends and keep things amicable." The source also highlighted that their clashing work schedules and diverging career paths, now that they're no longer with ITV, have been significant factors.

Eamonn has been grappling with chronic back pain in recent years, and his health has visibly declined, leading to him being photographed in a wheelchair.

In a rare comment since their departure from This Morning, Ruth spoke to Woman's Weekly this week about their hopes for Eamonn's mobility, acknowledging that he may never fully recover.

Ruth shared with the magazine: "I don't know how much Eamonn's mobility will improve. We live in hope. He does the physio, but there might have to be some acceptance that this might never be 100% right. With any care situation - and there are millions of carers in this country - it isn't always easy. It's testing but we manage as a family."

She added: "I look at Eamonn, who's had his health and back problems, and it makes you realise how important your health is."
