Last week, a piece on how the plunge in sterling will affect holidays on the continent and in the US this year managed to confuse the exchange rate. It said: “Sterling currently stands at about £1.18 against the euro – a drop of more than 10p in the past year.” We meant: “Sterling currently stands at about €1.18, a drop of more than 10 cents in the past year.” Apologies. (“Fancy some sun, sea and sand? Brexit vote means it will cost you 15% more”, Personal Finance, last week, page 45).
