For the record

The actor Matthew Tennyson is far too young to be the great-grandson of Alfred Lord Tennyson (“Glad to be gay”, New Review, last week, page 6). He is the former poet laureate’s great-great-great-grandson.

Naming names: EM Forster’s 1910 novel on social convention is Howards End, not Howard’s End (“A view to a cull”, Observer Food Monthly, last week, page 50) and the former Romanian dictator was Nicolae Ceaușescu, not, as we said, Nicolai Ceascescu (“Ilie Nastase must be evicted from tennis for his behaviour at Fed Cup”, Sport, 23 April).

When describing the area of the UK covered by domestic gardens, we inadvertently said they “make up 25% of all urban areas and account for around 45,000 square kilometres of our land”.We actually meant 4,500 square kilometres (“The warming world will change our gardens and plants. Here’s how to cope”, Focus, 30 April, page 34).

“In 1966, I was on the bus with Ken Kesey…. President John F Kennedy had been assassinated four years previously.” JFK was assassinated on 22 November 1963. (“Golden daze”, Magazine, last week, page 22).
