Red Dwarf adds Johnny Vegas and Call the Midwife star
Red Dwarf series 12 will feature guest appearances from Johnny Vegas and Call the Midwife star Helen George.
Ahead of the show returning to Dave next month, Kryten actor Robert Llewellyn has teased what we can expect from Johnny's episode.
"It's a critique of free speech and political correctness and all those things where you can't say this, or you shouldn't be saying that… and people getting offended at the tiniest little thing," he explained.
We don't know anything about Helen's character other than the costume she's wearing, but we do now know who James Buckley will be playing.
The Inbetweeners star is playing a Kryten-style mechanoid and has described appearing in the show as a "dream come true".
"Someone said to me, 'Would I like to be in an episode of Red Dwarf?' I said, 'Yeahhhh, that'd be great, with all the cast there'. The way it was pitched to me was, 'You'll be an alien or something, no-one'll recognise you, it'll be really cool'," he recalled.
"I liked the idea of that. And then the day before I did a make-up test and they put the Kryten android stuff on me… I nearly shit myself, it's so iconic."
We expect that Buckley will appear in the episode where all the Dwarfers turn into mechanoids. Smegging hell.
The super cryptic titles for series 12's six episodes were revealed last month, with the finale title 'Skipper' a potential call back to the nickname Ace Rimmer gave to Lister way back when, potentially teasing a return for Ace.
Red Dwarf airs on Dave in October.
