Red Flag Conditions Fuel Growing Wildfire in SoCal

Fire crews battled multiple wildfires in Southern California on Tuesday, September 10, as red flag conditions, including soaring temperatures and high winds, continued in the region.

Footage captured by Ashlyn Reineccius shows crews working to control the Airport fire on Monday, and images show conditions outside her home in Trabuco Canyon on Tuesday morning. The fire grew to 9,000 acres by Tuesday, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

Red flag and excessive heat conditions were forecasted for the region until Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

According to local media, the blaze was named the Airport fire because of its proximity to a “small facility for remote-controlled model airplanes near the mouth of Trabuco Canyon.” Credit: Ashlyn Reineccius via Storyful
