Jennifer Lawrence joined her Red Sparrow co-stars in on the red carpet for the European premiere of the new film.

The actress shook off controversy around her comments towards Joanna Lumley at Sunday’s BAFTAs, and was all smiles as she posed for selfies with fans.

She sported a sparkling stripey dress with a low-cut halter neckline and criss-cross detailing.

Also in attendance were Joel Edgerton, who wore a blue and grey pinstriped suit, Joely Richardson, pictured in a black and red pattered dress, and Jeremy Irons in a grey jacket and bright orange scarf.

Lawrence was criticised on Sunday for appearing to reject compliments from Lumley when the 71-year-old welcomed her on stage at the BAFTAs.

Lumley described the Red Sparrow star as ‘the hottest actress on the planet’ and ‘ravishing’.

To which Lawrence curtly replied: “Hi, that was a bit much but thank you, Joanna.”

Viewers slated Lawrence's ‘ungrateful’ response, with one tweeting: “Jennifer Lawrence was unnecessarily rude then wasn’t she? #EEBAFTAs didn’t think there was any need for that reply to Joanna Lumley.”

Another wrote: “Jennifer Lawrence rude to Joanna Lumley tonight and also talked all the way through that first BAFTA award winning speech.”

Red Sparrow, which is directed by Francis Lawrence, arrives in cinemas in the UK on Thursday, March 1.
