Redcar school seeking planning permission from council to expand existing nursery
An education trust is seeking planning permission to convert a vacant caretaker’s bungalow in order to create more school nursery places.
The Galileo Multi Academy Trust is behind the proposal for Ings Farm Primary School, in Stirling Road, Redcar. Plans have been submitted to Redcar and Cleveland Council.
The application said the building had been vacant since last November after the caretaker occupying it left. Alterations are planned to accommodate the proposal, including to windows on the property.

Commenting on the application, the local authority’s director of children and families Danielle Swainston said: “[I am] supportive of this work as this will offer further nursery places in the area.”
West Dyke ward councillors Chris Jones, Malcolm Head and Mary Ovens have also been consulted on the proposals, which have yet to be determined. According to trust documents, Ings Farm is able to admit up to 91 pupils to its existing nursery facility, based on youngsters attending 15 hours a week.
The Galileo Multi Academy Trust operates a number of primary schools in the area, including Coatham Primary School, the Lakes Primary School, New Marske Primary School and Wheatlands Primary School.
