Refurbishment planned for popular pub on the outskirts of Nottingham

An internal refurbishment could be taking place at the Waggon and Horses pub just outside of Nottingham if they find a new licensee. Located on Mansfield Road, Redhill, the popular pub is looking for a new publican to take it over as it prepares to be transformed with various modern features.

The pub has an estimated annual turnover of £498,300, and post-refurbishment there will be an improved function room, catering kitchen, beer garden and conservatory as well as 128 internal covers and 100 external ones. Once the changes have been carried out there will be a mix of new and existing furniture across the pub, including a new curved booth.

There will also be new light installations, such as wall lights and LED lights in the ceiling, rustic sliding cupboard doors, wall panelling and a refurbished timber floor. The new designs for the pub include a greater focus on the function room which will be better utilised for live music events and ticketed performances.

However, applicants should bear in mind that all refurbishments are subject to final board approval which will be determined as part of the leasing process by Star Pubs. A spokesperson for the organisation stated: "Subject to recruiting a new licensee, we plan to undertake an internal upgrade of the Waggon & Horses pub in Nottingham to create a welcoming community pub serving a wide selection of cask ales, premium lagers, ciders, wines, spirits and soft drinks as well as classic pub food.

“The upgraded function room means more people will be able to enjoy dining at the pub, including for Sunday lunch, and the space will also be able to accommodate events such as christenings and other celebrations, as well as live entertainment. Anyone interested in taking it on should visit or call 08085 949596.”
