Is your relationship doomed? This AI will tell you if you’ll split up in six questions

A new web app from AI firm DataRobot can predict whether you’re going to stay with your partner – or if you’re going to split up.

All you have to do is answer six simple questions.

It’s all based on science, with a dash of machine learning – predicting factors which mean that you’re likely to split up.

For instance, people with children under five are more likely to split up – whereas people who have already been together for years are less likely to.

We should note that it’s all for fun (ie you shouldn’t rely on this to make decisions) – but it’s all based on scientific results what keeps couples together, boiled down by a bit of machine learning.

You answer six questions – and then DataRobot spits out a percentage chance of how likely you are to split up, based on data about your lives.

For instance, people who have children under five are more likely to split up, due to the stress – but people with older children are less likely to split up.

DataRobot has used machine learning to identify the characteristics of couples who are likely to stay together – based on data from sociology professor Michael Rosenfeld.

Greg Michaelson of DataRobot says, ‘I’ve been married for 17 years (as of today, as a matter of fact), and I’m intensely interested in relationships and what makes them last. I learned so much throughout this process, and I’m excited to share our findings with people.

‘People need to know more about machine learning. You can’t read the news these days without stumbling across an article bemoaning the supposed rise of the machines — how all of our jobs are going to be consumed by robot overlords and how this will result in the collapse of modern society.
