Following the news that season 7 of Game of Thrones will be back on our screens this July, we thought it was about time that we relived some of the best moments of last season.

And by 'best', we of course mean 'bloodiest'. And by 'moments', we really mean 'deaths'.

So, to get us excited for the next season – which we're sure will be just as kill-happy as the last – the top 10 deaths from season 6, including honourable mentions for those that didn't quite make the cut, have been compiled by Sky Box Sets.

We reckon you'll be hard pushed to argue with the death at number 1.

(We should warn you: this video contains spoilers for season 6 of Game of Thrones, and as it's Thrones, do expect violence. A lot of it.)

Last night (March 9), GoT trolled fans the world over as the air date of the penultimate season was announced – not by raven, but through the medium of ice and fire. (What else?)

The live stream, which focused on a block of ice as it slowly melted, eventually revealed that season 7 will begin on Sunday, July 16 at 9pm ET over on HBO in the US, shown simultaneously at 2am on Monday, July 17 on Sky Atlantic in the UK.

And not only were we (finally) treated to something concrete about the upcoming season, we were also gifted a brand new trailer. The gods are smiling down on us, it seems.

Not before dragons and direwolves literally crumbled before our eyes, the trailer ended on a rallying cry from Jon Show. "The same thing is coming for all of us," he warns. "There's only one war that matters. The great war – and it is here."

If you can't wait until July for your next Game of Thrones fix, why not catch up on all the action so far on Sky Box Sets and online streaming service NOW TV? Seasons 1-6 will be available to enjoy from May 1st.

Drama is coming.
