The remains of a partially collapsed condominium tower in Surfside, Florida, was demolished on July 4 more than a week after a deadly collapse left at least 24 people dead.
Miami-Dade Police said the Champlain Towers South building would be destroyed between the hours of 10 pm and 3 am, warning residents to keep clear of the site.
Search efforts at the partially collapsed building were paused on Saturday to allow engineers to secure the site and prepare for demolition. Officials said this step was crucial in order to allow authorities to continue to look for survivors safely.
