Remains of US Airmen Killed in Afghanistan Crash Arrive at Dover Air Force Base

The bodies of two US Airmen killed in a plane crash in Afghanistan were returned to US soil on January 30, and given a “dignified transfer” upon landing at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

Footage posted by the Air Force showed personnel transporting flag-draped coffins containing the remains of Lt. Col. Paul K. Voss and Capt. Ryan S. Phaneuf from an aircraft to a waiting vehicle.

The two airmen were killed on January 27, when the Bombardier E-11A they were piloting crashed in Afghanistan’s Ghazni province, in an area under the control of the Taliban. According to the US military no one else was on board the plane. The cause of the crash had not been confirmed at the time of writing.
