It has been more than a decade since the second film was released but Renee Zellweger has been spotted filming the new Bridget Jones film in London.

The American star has been on location in Woolwich where the character has been shopping in Sainsbury's with a prominent pregnancy bump.

Zellweger was wearing a blue fluffy coat, striped top, jeans and boots.

She has also been seen in a Greenwich park filming a scene with co-star Sally Philips who plays Shazza.

Bridget Jones' Baby is the third film based on Helen Fielding's books about a woman who is unlucky in love and prone to embarrassing herself in social situations.

Colin Firth returns as Mark Darcy in the film after Bridget got engaged to him in 2004's Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason.

Patrick Dempsey has also confirmed his role in the movie after putting a photo from Pinewood Studios on Instagram.

The Grey's Anatomy star wrote: "Nice to be working in England. Renee and Colin are an absolute joy to work with! A good couple of days rehearsing at Pinewood Studios. I really like it here!"

The first official photo for the film was released last week, showing Bridget hugging a red iPad which appears to have replaced her traditional diary.

Fielding released her third book, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, in 2013 but it is not known how closely the film will stick to its plot.

It is thought the new film will be released late next year.
