Rennes sporting director sets the record straight on transfer interest in Leeds United star

New Stades Rennes sporting director Frédéric Massara has confirmed the club are interested in signing Leeds United midfielder Glen Kamara. With Enzo Le Fee set to join Italian side Roma in a big-money deal and Fabian Rieder having already joined VfB Stuttgart on loan, Rennes are thought to be in the market for midfield reinforcements this summer.

Multiple reports in France suggest the Ligue 1 side have expressed an interest in Kamara, who established himself as a key man under Daniel Farke last term as the Whites narrowly missed out on a Premier League return at the first attempt. The Finland international made 42 appearances in his first year at Elland Road after arriving in a £5m deal from Glasgow Rangers.

Speaking at a press conference, Massara said: "He [Kamara] is a Leeds player, a good player, definitely interesting, but of course, we are interested in lots of players, some of which have not yet been revealed and could arrive, even quickly."

Having already lost Archie Gray to Tottenham, it is thought Farke is keen to retain Kamara's services heading into the 2024/25 season. The 28-year-old still has three years left to run on his Elland Road contract.

Farke wants to strengthen his squad after allowing a host of fringe players to leave in recent weeks. Midfield is an area the German may look to freshen up following Gray's £40m switch. United have so far signed two senior players in back-up goalkeeper Alex Cairns and centre-back Joe Rodon.
