Reno 911 Star 'Jim Dangle' Rocks Short Shorts in Coronavirus PSA

The fictional Lt Jim Dangle from the comedy series Reno 911! partnered with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station to make a video with three pieces of advice for social distancing: Stay at home, finish that opera, and be a delight.

Dangle, played by actor Thomas Lennon, serves as the head of the Reno Sheriff’s Department in the show. Dangle is known for sporting cut-off trousers and his various comedic missteps at the department.

Lennon said he teamed up with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department to advocate for the public to stay at home to avoid spreading or contracting the new coronavirus.

The video, shared on March 23, shows Lennon lounging in Dangle’s signature shorts next to a pile of Stephen King books.

“You really are much safer at home,” Lennon says in the PSA. “So this is a great time to finish that stack of books that you’ve got, that opera that you’ve been outlining for so long. Stay at home, and also be a delight. And don’t go to the store and buy up all the mac and cheese. There’s probably people who need it more than you.”
