Jay Blades, the star of The Repair Shop, has broken his silence following the end of his marriage, in a tribute to Windrush Day.

The 54-year-old TV icon reportedly opted to "step back" from the public eye and paused filming for his popular programme after splitting with wife Lisa Marie Zbozen.

Lisa announced their split on her social media channels last month, admitting she was "trying to figure out my life," shortly after Jay briefly stepped away from social media in the wake of his uncle's tragic murder during a neighbourly row in March.

On Saturday, Jay shared his thoughts with his legions of Instagram fans, explaining why he chose a hiatus from posting on his account but made a temporary return to honour Windrush Day, an annual celebration of the Caribbean community, reports OK!.

In his heartfelt post, he wrote: "I've taken a pause from social media and I've decided to come back on this day. Today is a celebration of the Windrush Generation as my Grandmother and my Great Aunt took that journey from Barbados to England. I don't know if they understood the impact that they would have, in helping to rebuild the nation after the Second World War. I wanted to pay homage to all of the Windrush Generation, and say a very BIG thank you."

He spoke poignantly about the profound impact of the Windrush Generation, sharing a personal connection: "The Windrush Generation holds a significant place in the history of the United Kingdom. Arriving from the Caribbean between 1948 and 1971, these individuals, including my grandmother, came to the UK to help rebuild the nation after World War II," he reflected.

Their influence extended beyond mere presence, as he detailed: "Their contributions were instrumental in shaping modern British society, bringing cultural diversity, enriching the workforce, and influencing various facets of daily life. Despite facing challenges and discrimination, the resilience and determination of the Windrush Generation have left an indelible legacy."

Highlighting their extensive impact, he expressed gratitude: "They not only contributed to the economic growth of the UK but also brought vibrant cultural influences that have become integral to British identity. The courage and perseverance of my Grandmother and her peers are a testament to their enduring spirit and significant impact on the nation's fabric and also to me. From the Bottom Of My Heart, I Just Want To Say Thank You."

Jay Blades was hit by surprising personal news last month when it was revealed he and his wife Lisa Zbozen, who wed in November of the previous year, had decided to part ways. Lisa confirmed their split on social media, stating with heartache, "I don't know how to say this because it's still really raw."

Opening up about her feelings, she admitted: "I probably should be really angry but I'm just incredibly sad about the whole thing right now."

Following a family tragedy, Jay has stepped back from his TV obligations, as reported. "Jay has taken a step back and is having a break from filming The Repair Shop," a source disclosed to The Sun.
