Deciem Founder Brandon Truaxe Has Passed Away [Updated]

Employees were supposedly informed of the former beauty executive's passing on Monday morning.

Fashionista has obtained information from a source reporting that Deciem founder Brandon Truaxe, who served as the company's co-CEO until October of 2018, passed away over the weekend.

On Monday morning, current company CEO Nicola Kilner (who served alongside Truaxe as co-CEO during much of his tenure) reportedly sent a company-wide email alerting Deciem employees of the news. Deciem's stores and offices will reportedly remain closed on Monday to honor Truaxe.

Fashionista has reached out to representatives from Deciem and The Estée Lauder Companies (which holds a minority stake investment in the company) and will continue to update this post as additional information becomes available.

UPDATE, Mon. Jan. 21, 4:15 p.m.: Deciem has confirmed the news on Instagram, posting a tribute to Truaxe and issuing a statement in the caption.

UPDATE, Mon. Jan. 21, 5:18 p.m.: A spokesperson from The Estée Lauder Companies has provided the following statement to Fashionista:

Brandon Truaxe was a true genius, and we are incredibly saddened by the news of his passing. As the visionary behind Deciem, he positively impacted millions of people around the world with his creativity, brilliance and innovation. This is a profound loss for us all, and our hearts are with Nicola Kilner and the entire Deciem family.
