Rescue Crews Evacuate People Trapped by Snow in Mallorca Mountains
Rescue crews in Mallorca evacuated several people stranded in the north of the island on Tuesday, February 28, as Storm Juliette hit Spain.
Video posted by the Guardia Civil shows conditions in the Serra de Tramuntana area, including emergency responders clearing trees.
The Guardia Civil said 15 roads were affected by fallen trees in the Serra de Tramuntana, as well as streets in the towns of Algaida, Manacor, Arta and Sa Pobla.
Spain’s Ministry of Defense said around 90 soldiers from the army’s emergency unit (UME) were helping to clear roads on Wednesday, backed by snowplows.
