A rescued baby capuchin monkey went through a whirlwind of emotions when he first saw his reflection in a mirror at a rescue center in the Peruvian Amazon.
Natalia Cara, who recorded this video and uploaded it in December 2019, said that the monkey in the video lost his mother to “the illegal pet trade and now lives at a rescue center.”
Cara continued to say, “When an animal needs to live in captivity, it needs environmental enrichment and physical stimulations to reduce stress and enhance their well-being. Environmental enrichments help to keep the animal from being bored, by giving it new ‘challenges.’”
The mirror in the environment serves as one of these enhancements, according to Cara. Credit: Natalia Cara via Storyful
