Rescues Underway as Floodwater Inundates Northwest Florida Neighborhood

Rescues were underway as floodwater from storm Sally inundated communities in Florida’s panhandle on Wednesday, September 16.

Sally downed trees, flooded roads, and cut power for communities across the region after it made landfall as a Category 2 hurricane in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The hurricane weakened to a tropical storm by Wednesday afternoon, but officials warned it was still causing “catastrophic and life-threatening flooding over portions of the Florida panhandle and southern Alabama.”
