Residents Evacuate as Wildfire Burns in Eastern Spain

A wildfire in Spain’s Valencia region burned up to 4,000 acres hectares by Wednesday, August 17, forcing residents of nearby towns to evacuate, local media reported.

The Bejis Fire forced evacuations from the towns of Bejis, Toras, Teresa, and Sacanet. The evacuees are being housed in shelters, sports facilities, and relatives’ homes, the president of the Valencian government, Ximo Puig, told media.

This video showing a wildfire burning was captured by Ruben Salazar Estal, who said it was filmed in Viver, near the Bejis Fire. It was published on August 16.
