At least one person died and several were injured when a rocket struck a nine-story residential tower in Kyiv on Sunday morning, June 26, according to Ukrainian authorities.
Footage from Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty shows emergency crews evacuating the damaged building, putting out flames, and trawling through debris.
More than 80 personnel responded, according to Sergey Kruk, the head of Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES).
Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said the strike killed one person and injured six, four of whom were taken to a hospital. Among those four victims was a seven-year-old girl who was in “stable” condition and expected to survive, Klitschko said. The child’s mother was in a condition of “moderate severity,” he added.
