Residents urged to get involved over future plans for Port of Menteith
Residents in Port of Menteith are being encouraged to have their say on the creation of an action plan designed to lay out the future for the village and the surrounding area.
The Local Place Plan is set to be drawn up by Port of Menteith Community Council and the village hall committee - with topics including issues such as housing, transport, natural heritage, community events and improvements to the hall.
They have been offered support by Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and community engagement agency Imagine If and villagers, as well as businesses operating in the area, are being asked to play their part in discussions.
The first engagement event will take place on Sunday (November 24) between 11am and 2.30pm in the village hall and will be followed by a range of accessible surveys to allow as many stakeholders as possible to get involved.
Residents can pop in and will be able to find out more, take part in festive activities, feed into the plan and there will be plenty of soup, stovies, tea, coffee and home baking to enjoy.

Any results will be fed into local priorities and action plans taken forward as well as creating the Local Place Plan to be shared with neighbouring councils and public bodies including the national park and Stirling Council.
The drawing up of the plan will also allow the community council to access sources of funding and investment for Port of Menteith, alongside nearby villages in Dykehead, Blairhoyle and Ruskie.
Local Place Plans contain the community’s proposals for the development and use of land, and provide a new opportunity for communities to feed into the planning system with ideas and proposals.
They were introduced by the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019, which contains a new right for communities to produce their own plans as part of the new Scottish planning system.
