Emergency responders rescued a baby girl who got stuck in a storm drain in a suburb of Durban, South Africa, on the morning of February 11.
Rescue Care, who took part in the rescue, told Storyful that passers-by alerted emergency services after they heard the cries of the infant, who was lodged a few meters into the storm drain.
The area around the concrete drain was dug up, before the drain was broken with a hammer and chisel. The baby was recovered and flown to a hospital in Durban.
Rescue Care said the circumstances leading to the baby ending up in the drain were still unknown.
