New restaurant with 'whimsical terrace' to replace Vinoteca in Birmingham city centre
A new restaurant is set to open in Birmingham city centre on the site of the former Vinoteca wine bar. La Bellezza promises to turn the unit - which has been empty since Vinoteca exited the city in May 2023 - into a 'delightful corner of Italian romance'.
The new restaurant is being opened by the Big Mamma Group, which owns 26 restaurants in Europe including Pink Mamma in Paris, Bel Mondo in Madrid and Gloria in Milan. La Bellezza is the B-corp company's first restaurant in Birmingham.
La Bellezza will be a trattoria with room for 150 diners and it will have a 'whimsical' terrace for 25 diners. It will serve authentic Italian dishes using ingredients sourced from 170 Italian artisans including Puglian burrata from Salvatore Montrone and 22-month aged Parmigiano Reggiano DOP from Paolo Gennari.

Co-founders Victor Lugger and Tigrane Seydoux commented: "Our main goal as restaurateurs is to bring to life the warmth and generosity of those little trattorias you find hidden throughout Italy. La Bellezza will be the epitome of this.
"We are hugely excited to be coming to Birmingham, not only to be part of its incredibly vibrant restaurant community but to also bring our superb Italian products, which we spent three years personally sourcing from small family-run artisans, to another major European city."
The opening date for the restaurant is yet to be announced but it is expected to launch before the end of 2024.
Vinoteca was open for just one year before it closed on Paradise citing trading conditions during and post-pandemic has having a 'huge impact'. The chain also said that regular train strikes and the cost of energy added to their decision to quit Birmingham.
