Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United: Revealed... six key reasons that convinced Man Utd to re-sign legend

Manchester United have agreed a sensational deal to sign Cristiano Ronaldo because they are convinced he still has several years left at the highest level - even at the age of 36.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had no plans to sign the Portugal international at the start of the transfer window - but United wasted no time wrapping up a deal once it became clear he was set to leave Juventus.

And Ronaldo dropped interest in moves to any other club once he was made aware of the possibility of a return to Old Trafford, ending any chance of a proposed switch to Manchester City.

The Premier League champions were in negotiations to sign the Real Madrid legend, but dropped out of the race on Friday.

That left United in pole position to bring him back to the club he left in 2009.

Solskjaer needed no convincing of what Ronaldo could add to his squad, given his outstanding record of 101 goals in 134 games for Juve.

And with a fee agreed of £12.85million plus £6.85m in add-ons, the belief was that the deal made total financial sense.

United are convinced Ronaldo remains world class, will bring a winning mentality and leadership, as well as much-needed goals.

It is also expected he will help the development of young players like Mason Greenwood.

It is also believed he will perfectly fit in with the attacking style of football Solskjaer is trying to implement.

The word from within Old Trafford is that Ronaldo is set to complete unfinished business rather than reliving the past.
