It’s no secret that the struggle to getting all of the ketchup out of a glass bottle is a feeling many can empathize with. At last, ketchup maker Heinz has revealed a long-held secret trick.

The secret? It’s all about where you tap. Specifically, right where the small number “57” inscribed on the bottle.

A spokesperson for Heinz told Mirror the this area is the “sweet spot” of the Heinz bottle.

“All you need to do is apply a firm tap where the bottle narrows, and the ketchup will come out easier,” the spokesperson explained.

According the the company’s website, only 11 per cent of people know about this secret.

It turns out the odd number on the bottle also has a history.

The company explains on their site that “57 Varieties” was a lucky number for their founder Henry J. Heinz.

While riding on a train in New York City in 1896, he noticed “a sign advertising 21 styles of shoes” and thought it was clever. So he began using “57 Varieties″ in all of his advertising.

No more shaking the bottle vigorously to get the ketchup out instead, a firm tap on the magic number 57 will suffice.
