Revelers Enjoy Night Out in London Before Further Coronavirus Restrictions

People were seen singing Queen’s ’Don’t Stop Me Now’ while enjoying the final evening before London entered a phase of further coronavirus restrictions on December 15, amid rising case numbers in the capital.

The city entered ‘Tier 3’ restrictions on December 16, meaning people were no longer allowed to meet those outside their household or support bubble, either inside or outside. All hospitality settings, including bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants were required to close, except for takeaway, delivery and click and collect services.

Professor Kevin Fenton, London’s regional director at Public Health England, said on December 14 that the city had the “highest case rates of anywhere in the country.” He added: “Whilst no one wants to see London under tighter restrictions, the stark reality of the situations means we have no choice.”
