Revenge's Emily VanCamp opens up about her engagement

Emily VanCamp has opened up about her off-screen engagement to her once on-screen husband Josh Bowman. Talk about life imitating art, eh?

VanCamp, who plays Sharon Carter in the Captain America movies, announced the happy news on Instagram last week, sharing a photo of her brand new sparkler – which we were not at all jealous of.

The couple were first linked when they appeared as husband and wife together in the hit drama Revenge, where VanCamp played the vengeful Emily Thorne. (Go figure.)

Chatting to People about the news, VanCamp revealed that she was caught up in the romance of it all. "It's literally only been a couple of days, but it's amazing," she said. "I'm really happy!"

Revenge ran for four seasons on ABC in the US and over on E4 in the UK, and gathered a small but devoted following of fans as they watched Emily plot her ultimate, well, revenge.

The series was eventually cancelled but there were whisperings a couple of years ago that suggested the show could come back in some form in the near future.

Although a potential spin-off called Kingmakers never made it past the pilot stage, ABC's president Paul Lee admitted it wasn't necessarily the end for Revenge.

"We didn't pick up the [Kingmakers] pilot, but Revenge is a wonderful brand around the world and it doesn't preclude us from doing it again," he said.
