10 most searched celebrities of 2016

Tenth place: Katie Price

2016 may well be remembered as the year Katie Price was forced to flog old clothes on eBay, but the Loose Women panelist's on-off marriage with Kieran Hayler, daily surgery rumours and ill-advised wardrobe choices made sure she was in the public eye.

Ninth place: Kate Middleton

Despite Prince Harry's new girlfriend Meghan Markle giving Kate a scare in the tabloid column inches department, the Duchess of Cambridge still managed enough outfit changes to keep us all interested.

Eighth place: Amanda Holden

It’s been a year to forget for the Britain’s Got Talent judge. Her younger sister Debbie was rushed to intensive car after a horrific car crash in Cornwall, but thankfully pulled through.

Seventh place: Kim Kardashian

Kim's horrific ordeal at the hands of armed robbers in a Paris hotel was one of the year's big stories. So big, in fact, that mum Kris Jenner apparently wants to make a movie about it. Er, okaaay.

No place for poor old Piers Morgan in our top 10 (surprise!), but his sofa chum Susannah is one of the more surprising celebrities likely to get the British public a-searching.

Second place: Cheryl

The rumours about Cheryl's 'pregnancy' seemed to way longer than the usual nine months gestation period, so it's not wonder she made number 2 in our list. 2016 was also the year she finally divorced Jean-Bernard (remember him?), hooked up with Liam Payne, and almost dropped the f-bomb on the One Show.

First place: Holly Willoughby

Forget armed robberies and relationship rumours. The sight of This Morning's Holly dressed up as Harley Quinn or having a giggle with Phillip Schofield is far more likely to get Yahoo readers searching for more. Isn't that refreshing?

From a violent armed robbery in a Paris hotel to the national obsession with a slight bump in someone’s dress, it’s been another vintage year for celebrity gossip.

But no matter how hard they all try, there’ll always be a few stars who manage to squeeze in a few more column inches than their rivals.
