For the past 86 years the CEO of one of the biggest cosmetics brands in the world has been run by a man.

Revlon was founded in 1932 and has been in the control of Ronald Perelman since 1985, continuing a succession of men. But now, for the first time, he is passing over his duties to his daughter, Debra Perelman, who has now become the first female chief executive.

The 44-year-old has made history at the cosmetic company, which also manages Elizabeth Arden, Juicy Couture and Almay.

Taking to Instagram, Debra captioned a post: "Feeling inspired to start as President & CEO of @revlon today - excited for the work ahead."

In recent years Revlon has championed female diversity in campaigns. In fact, Debra states in a video on her Instagram that: "It was [the] first to showcase women empowered in their advertising."

Most recently launching the 'Live Boldly' campaign promoting self-love and inclusively, starring the likes of Adwoa Aboah, Ashley Graham and Imaan Hammam.

The brand also currently has Reece Witherspoon and Gal Gadot as its brand ambassadors.

And we're sure Debra will continue to carry on the brand's feeling of female empowerment.
