Former Celebrity Big Brother star Rhian Sugden has claimed that the sexting scandal she was involved in with Vernon Kay "ruined everything" for her.

The ex-glamour model is set to open up about how her work dried up after their explicit messages were exposed in 2010, and that she wishes she'd "never met" the television presenter in new TV documentary Page Three: The Naked Truth, according to The Sun.

"He just got away with it," the 33-year-old said of father-of-two Vernon, who has been married to Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly since 2003. "It ruined everything for me.

"I felt like I was going up and up with my career and then that came along. I wish I'd never met him. He got to give an apology on the radio and just got to carry on, with Family Fortunes, ironically. It still makes me feel sick."

Recalling her experiences with the "good-looking" radio DJ, Rhian noted that "there was an attraction there" when they first met one another on a night out in Manchester.

"Things just stemmed from there," she went on. "It was all probably more bravado on text from him when he'd had a drink, 'Oh you look fit in that picture, sexy, wish I could see you more'.

"Then obviously it went in the newspaper. We were front page news because we'd been sex texting each other. If I'd met this man, slept with him and had a full blown affair with him then I would understand the backlash."

Two years ago, Rhian, who is now married to Coronation Street actor Oliver Mellor, issued a public apology to Vernon's wife Tess, writing that she regrets allowing her husband to "continue speaking to me the way he did."

"I should never have got involved with a married man. As time has passed I regret not being wise enough or strong enough to deal with my own issues and insecurities myself," she added. "The exchange of messages was inappropriate and I should not have encouraged such behaviour."
