'Rhys was a devoted husband, father and family man...his loss is absolutely devastating'
A "devoted family man" has died in a crash which has left his nine-year-old son injured in hospital. Rhys Jenkins, 41, was travelling along the A483 near Welshpool when his vehicle was involved in the collision on November 16.
Dyfed-Powys Police say Mr Jenkins died at the scene, and his son remains in hospital recovering from his injuries. Two people have been charged with driving offences linked to the crash.
Abubakr Ben Yusaf, aged 29, has been charged with drug driving, causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, causing death whilst uninsured, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, and failing to stop after a road traffic collision. Umar Ben Yusaf, aged 33, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, causing death whilst uninsured, and failing to stop after a road traffic collision. Both have been remanded in custody until the next court hearing on December 20.
The family of Mr Jenkins, from Glynneath, have paid tribute to him. They said: "Rhys was a devoted husband, father and family man and his loss is absolutely devastating for us all. We are thankful for the support we have received since this truly awful incident and continue to be comforted by the well wishes.
"As a family we would be grateful to now be afforded the time to grieve."
