Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has teased that there will be a lot of deleted scenes for fans to savour.

Talking to Digital Spy, Johnson insisted that the version of the eagerly-anticipated movie coming out this week is the only cut he wants there to be, but that doesn't mean the home release won't have plenty of goodies.

"We have so many deleted scenes. As big as this movie is, it started even bigger, and it's not just little shots of people walking down hallways," he noted.

"We took out whole sequences that are going to be on the Blu-ray. The movie as it's cut now is the best version of the movie – I would never do an extended cut. But we're going to put the deleted scenes on the Blu-ray for people to see."

That sounds good enough to us as we're pretty big fans of The Last Jedi as it currently is, but still want to see more of Johnson's vision.

Let's hope the deleted scenes include more of Carrie Fisher's final performance as General Leia Organa.

At the world premiere over the weekend, Johnson paid tribute to the late star. "I want to dedicate tonight to Carrie, who is up there right now flipping me the bird, saying, 'Damn it Rian, don't you dare make this night a solemn tribute'," he joked.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi arrives in UK cinemas on December 14 and US cinemas on December 15.
