We're just about a month away from catching up with the cast of Four Weddings and a Funeral for the first time in 25 years, and it seems that the Comic Relief sequel film will very much be following in the original's footsteps.

One Red Nose Day and a Wedding will premiere exclusively during Red Nose Day 2019 on BBC One on Friday, March 15 and speaking on today's (February 16) Saturday Kitchen, writer Richard Curtis has promised another mixed bag of emotional highs and lows.

"The only time you can see that is March 15 on the Comic Relief show, so definitely, definitely watch it," he said of the Comic Relief special. "I think there'll be three laughs and two tears."

The programme also premiered an exclusive first-look clip featuring the reunited cast – including Hugh Grant, Andie MacDowell and more – as Charles (Grant), Carrie (MacDowell), Tom (James Fleet), Fiona (Kristin Scott Thomas), Gerald (Rowan Atkinson) and "some surprise guests" invited us to the "wedding of the year".

The video isn't online just yet, but hopefully it will be soon.

As for how the sequel film came about, Curtis admitted that he didn't have any intention of returning to these characters at first.

"It's 25 years since the film came out, and I was never going to follow it up. And then it did just occur to us that the characters in the movie would have children so they might be back in the wedding phase again," he shared.

"Without revealing too much, we have another wedding and a reception after the wedding, and all the characters came back."

We're sure the love for Red Nose Day Actually in 2017 probably had some part to play in this as well, though.

One Red Nose Day and a Wedding will premiere exclusively during Red Nose Day 2019 on BBC One on Friday, March 15. It will also feature as part of NBC’s programming for Red Nose Day USA on Thursday, May 23.
