Following his recent car accident in Switzerland, Richard Hammond has decided he's done with four wheels. It's all about six, baby.

Revealing his newest "electric vehicle" on DriveTribe, Richard showed off his salvaged electric wheelchair – complete with an ingenious mod or two.

Explaining that switching from crutches to the wheelchair can be difficult without "means of storing the crutches", Richard unlocked his creative genius and added "twin crutch scabbards".

And he's more than ready to customise your wheelchair, too – although there may be a slight stock problem.

"I can't believe the twin crutch scabbard is not fitted as standard and am happy to offer this modification to anyone wanting it," he wrote.

"Although I have run out of disused drainpipe. And cable ties. And Charlie's taken his saw home. So don't hold your breath."

Another thing we might be holding our breath for is the release of The Grand Tour's second season, as Jeremy Clarkson has recently confirmed that it may be delayed.

Following Richard's shock crash while filming for the Amazon series, Clarkson confirmed that "yes", filming for the new episodes has been affected.

"As I write, James May is sitting in the hell hole that is Gatwick Airport waiting for a budget airline to take him to a shoot that Hammond should have been doing," he told fans on DriveTribe.

"Meanwhile, I've been up since dawn, rewriting all of the scripts and ideas we had to accommodate the fact that Hammond can't drive for the next few months."
