Richard Madeley encourages stars to take viagra on camera and cheekily asks for results

Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley has been in the public eye for many decades for his various TV roles, most notably alongside wife Judy Finnigan.

The pair were the faces of ITV's This Morning for 13 years until they left in 2001. In a Channel 5 documentary, titled Richard and Judy: Our Best Bits - In Our Own Words, they took a look back at some of the more memorable moments on the programme.

One of which included a slightly awkward moment where the presenters introduced three couples for a live Viagra test.

In the late 90s, the couples were asked to come onto the show, then be taken to a hotel and then return to report back.

Reflecting on the moment Judy said: "Looking back now, yes I'm sure it was incredibly crude but at the same time it felt very energetic and very vibrant."

Richard added: "Everybody was talking about viagra, we went a step further and we tested it live on air."

The 68-year-old shared that the couples returned to the studio after an hour and a half to give their feedback.

In the throwback footage, Channel 5 viewers saw Richard ask: "Put it this way then, I'll choose my words carefully, was it what you hoped for?" Was it everything you hoped for and more?"

One of the women confirmed it was, as the studio started to giggle while she debated not going back to work.

However, it seemed as though Judy wasn't impressed with the segment looking back on it now.

In the documentary, she said: "There was a producer prowling up and down the corridor outside their rooms in the hotel with walkie-talkies.

"It's just absolutely, looking back now it's awful!"

Nick Bullen, former editor of This Morning highlighted that their main worry was someone reacting badly to the pill.

Elsewhere in the documentary, a throwback of Richard dressed up as Sacha Baron Cohen's character Ali G was played as he interviewed his wife in character.

Richard reflected on the hilarious moment as he said: "I know people rip it out of me for doing Ali G and that's fine I completely get why.

"But, I do think it was quite a funny script! At home, I used to occasionally drop into Ali G which the kids thought was very funny."

As his children appeared in the documentary, their son Jack confessed he was the one who encouraged it.
