Richard Madeley has insisted he is not dying his hair but letting his natural colour shine.

The 63-year-old TV presenter is currently co-hosting Richard & Judy Keep Reading And Carry On on Channel 4 with wife Judy Finnigan sporting golden blond locks, which he insists do not come out of a bottle.

Madeley told the Mirror: “It is completely natural, nothing to do with a bottle. You don’t have to believe me, but it’s true. If I was dyeing my hair I’m sure it would go green, I wouldn’t know how to do it.

“I was born Boris blond. Ten years ago the grey started to come through, and I began to notice in the summer, particularly in strong sunshine, the grey bits were going blond.

“As I’ve gone greyer, and I’m about 50 per cent grey now, if I’m in the sun for a long time it will go blond. Before the lockdown we were in Florida for two weeks.”

The former This Morning co-host has been married to Finnigan, 71, for 34 years and they worked together since 1988.

Madeley admitted that despite being one of Britain’s best known celebrity couples - they have had their moments of tension in lockdown.

He said: In all marriages, things can occasionally get tense, and you can get a bit snappy with each other, especially if you’re together 24/7.”
