Richard Madeley interrupts Good Morning Britain as he abruptly leaves ITV studio

Richard Madeley made an unplanned exit from the Good Morning Britain set on Tuesday.

During a live weather update, Richard felt compelled to step outside to check if the snow had started falling. To his excitement, he found it was indeed snowing.

When he rejoined Susanna Reid in the studio, she quipped: "Richard, are you reporting from the scene?"

"It is absolutely tipping down with snow outside; it has just started about five minutes ago after you first spoke...nothing, and suddenly it has happened," a delighted Richard reported.

"We'll be showing you the visuals shortly; it's coming down hard."

Susanna jokingly advised, "Can I recommend that next time you go out with a coat."

With a chuckle, Richard retorted: "This is live television, Susanna, every minute counts, there was no time to put a coat on. I suffer for the news," reports the Mirror.

The unexpected event spurred viewers to post videos and pictures of the snowy scenes they were experiencing.

"Snowing where I live as well now after a night of heavy rain," commented one fan.

Another stated, "We have snow in Hertfordshire and it's settling," while yet another viewer remarked: "Snowing in Billericay, Essex."

Richard caused Susanna to bury her face in her hands in a different segment of the show after he seemingly "broke" Ofcom rules. This incident occurred while they discussed Ed Sheeran's recent revelations about his hesitancy towards the 40th-anniversary re-release of Band Aid.

Ed Sheeran, who participated in the iconic charity single in 2014, recently disclosed that he would have preferred not to include his vocals on the track.

Sir Bob Geldof has been vocal about the recent backlash, and Susanna relayed his forthright views to ITV viewers, noting that he hasn't minced his words on the subject.

"He's been very trenchant, we can't repeat them but he's basically said, 'if this is patronising colonial my backside'. Except he didn't say backside, it rhymes with farts," Richard explained.

Susanna, clearly surprised by her co-star's blunt phrasing, couldn't help but laugh and covered her face with her hands.

Responding to Richard's comment, she quipped: "I'm not sure we avoided the Ofcom ruling on that one!"

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
