Richard Madeley has shared his disbelief that he has been compared to Daniel Craig, saying: "Oh come on! I'm nothing like him."

The star was hosting Good Morning Britain alongside Kate Garraway after Madeley shared his biggest career regret on Channel 5 documentary Richard and Judy: Our Best Bits - In Our Own Words. Madeley wasn't impressed when the spotlight turned on him as they discussed Craig's new fashion campaign.

Craig debuted his new look for the Loewe campaign as he ditched his usual short hairstyle for long blond locks. As well as growing his hair, the actor looked worlds away from his iconic James Bond look as he wore a series of bold and eccentric outfits for photographs taken by David Sims.

Ranvir Singh revealed some people at Good Morning Britain believe The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star now looked like their own presenter Madeley. Good Morning Britain compared one of Craig's campaign pictures alongside a photograph of the TV presenter to try emphasise the similarities.

The TV stars enjoyed teasing their colleague over the comparison too. Singh said: "Some here think he looks like a certain Good Morning Britain presenter." Playing on James Bond's mantra 'The name is Bond, James Bond', she added: "The name is Madeley."

Madeley was quick to protest that he looked anything like the former 007 actor. "Oh come on!" He exclaimed as he explained he didn't share the views of his TV colleagues.

The TV presenter appeared almost embarrassed at the comparison as he revealed he was more than a decade older than the acting legend. Madeley is 68 while Craig is 56. He shared his concerns saying: "I'm nothing like him. I'm 12 years older than him. I look nothing like him. We've got a parting on the same side that's it."

Good Morning Britain presenter Garraway laughed off her colleague's protests and she urged him to see the positives in the comparison. "Take the win Richard!" She insisted.

Daniel Craig looks unrecognisable from 007 role

Craig is most recognised in the iconic role of James Bond where he wore his hair short and he looked smart in tuxedos. The Hollywood movie star has starred as Bond in five films: Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015) and No Time to Die (2021).

In 2022, Craig said he wanted to move away from the Bond franchise. He told the Los Angeles Times: "I suppose I should be so lucky if they were to ask me back, but the fact is I need to move on from it. The sacrifice that he makes in the movie was for love and there’s no greater sacrifice. So it seemed like a good thing to end on."

As an actor, the star is used to taking on different roles and recently starred in murder mystery film Knives Out and its sequel the Glass Onion. However, the star surprised fans with an entirely different role and look with the LOEWE Fall Winter 2024 men’s campaign.

"Craig brings to life the work of artist Richard Hawkins, who inspired the collection, through a collage of personalities," the brand said. "He wears the knitted jumpers, the cargos, the leather blousons but also the boots, trainers and embroidered pants that are key, Americana-inflected pieces of the collection, with much bravado and a confrontational stance."
